South Korea selects three consortia for government AI project
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT has selected three consortia to create publicly accessible artificial intelligence services as part of the government’s AI for all initiative. Each of the selected teams is led by SK Telecom, KT and Kakao.

As The Korea Herald reports, the three consortia will receive a total of 512 Nvidia B200 graphics processing units. The costs required to launch the services next year will be covered by the state budget.
The ministry plans to sign agreements with each consortium next month. The official launch of each service is expected to take place by the end of the year.

Terms of the AI for all initiative
The South Korean government launched the AI for all program in July. It is part of efforts to create a so-called “basic AI society,” in which people will be able to use AI services regardless of income, age or level of digital literacy.
Developers must use domestic artificial intelligence models that meet the ministry’s independently established standards for foundation models for at least 50% of the system. Six consortia applied to participate in the project, and applications closed in mid-August.
