What Is Known About Mount Khomyak

Mount Khomyak is one of the most popular hiking peaks in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, near Yaremche, Tatariv, and Bukovel. Mount Khomyak rises 1,542 meters above sea level. The summit features a distinctive rocky formation and offers panoramic views of the surrounding Carpathian ridges.

Tourists and organized groups regularly hike up the mountain. Due to the route’s popularity, mountain rescue teams are stationed here to assist people in case of injury, illness, or disorientation. On the same day, rescuers assisted another hiker in the Carpathians. The woman got lost during her hike, and emergency responders found her and guided her out of the dangerous area.

The State Emergency Service once again reminds hikers to assess their physical condition before heading into the mountains and not to neglect safety. Even a route that is familiar to experienced hikers can become challenging due to weather conditions, terrain, or a sudden decline in physical well-being. This was noted by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
