More than 27 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes were returned to the budget
A company in the Zhytomyr region fully reimbursed the state for the losses incurred during an investigation into tax evasion. A total of 27 million 60 thousand hryvnias in unpaid taxes was returned to the local budget.
According to the investigation, during 2021–2022, the company—a manufacturer of confectionery products—withheld personal income tax from its employees’ wages but systematically failed to remit it to the budget.
Instead of paying taxes, these funds were retained by the company and used to purchase raw materials, pay for services, and cover other business expenses.
As a result, the local budget lost 27 million 60 thousand hryvnias. The amount of unpaid taxes was confirmed by a forensic economic analysis.
The company’s accountant has been notified of suspicion of intentional tax evasion on an especially large scale under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the pretrial investigation, the company acknowledged the violation and paid the unpaid taxes in full, as well as compensated the local budget for the damages caused.
Since the payments required by law were made in full, prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General filed a motion with the court to exempt the company’s accountant from criminal liability pursuant to Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
