DTEK has established a Digital Transformation Office to develop AI services in the energy sector
"DTEK Networks" announced the creation of a Digital Transformation Office, which will advise distribution system operators (DSOs) on the implementation of artificial intelligence and digital services for customers. This was reported by the operating holding company.
The newly established Digital Transformation Office serves in an advisory capacity and helps:
- develop innovative projects;
- implement AI solutions;
- scale digital products and services.
The company is currently working on several key areas:
- AI Assistant
- AI Recognition (data recognition)
- AI Prediction (forecasting)
Ruslan Volynets, Director of Customer Relations at DTEK Networks, noted:
“Distribution system operators already have a significant portfolio of digital projects, and we see great potential in the use of artificial intelligence.”
He added that the creation of the new office will allow for faster implementation of innovations and scaling of effective solutions.
Among the company’s first projects are:
- an AI Voice Bot, which will allow customers to submit meter readings and receive information about power outages without needing a contact center agent;
- an AI assistant that will integrate data from IT systems and knowledge bases to provide faster consultations.
The company plans to test the AI Voice Bot by the end of 2026.
Solutions are also being developed for the automatic recognition of meter readings from photos, as well as the use of AI and machine learning for forecasting and analytics in the energy sector.
“DTEK Networks” operates in the electricity distribution sector and maintains networks in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Odesa regions. The company provides electricity to 5.1 million households and 150,000 businesses.
The company noted that DTEK Networks’ OSR has already begun testing its first AI-based solutions.
As a reminder, DRI, the European division of Rinat Akhmetov’s Ukrainian energy group DTEK focused on renewable energy development, has secured approximately 470 million Polish zlotys (roughly $127 million) in project financing. The long-term funding will be directed toward the implementation of a large-scale project—the construction of the Trzebinia Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Poland.
