The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated more than ₴3.5 billion to the regions for the repair of local roads
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a decision to allocate an additional 3.5 billion hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund for urgent repairs to local roads. The funds will be used to restore the most critical transportation routes in all regions of the country.
According to the head of government, the funding will allow for the repair of the most problematic sections of the road network, which are of strategic importance for both the civilian population and military logistics.
“We will repair critical sections of local roads to improve safety for residents and logistics for the Defense Forces,” Svyrydenko noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the condition of local roads directly affects citizens’ access to basic services and the operational effectiveness of emergency services.
“For people, this is a matter of safety and faster access to hospitals, maternity wards, and schools. For our Defense Forces, it is a matter of evacuation, logistics, and supplying units,” she emphasized.
The government clarified that the funds allocated by the state will be provided on a co-financing basis. This means that local budgets must cover part of the costs of restoring road infrastructure.
It is expected that the funding will be distributed among all regions of Ukraine.
At this time, the government has not released a list of specific road projects or the funding amounts for each region.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers notes that priority will be given to repairing sections that are critical for the functioning of communities, the work of medical and rescue services, as well as ensuring military logistics and the evacuation of the population.
An additional 3.5 billion hryvnias is intended to help improve transportation links in the regions and ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure facilities under martial law.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a clear task for the Cabinet of Ministers and local authorities: to promptly resolve the main issues regarding the repair of local roads in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions by the end of June.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated from Slavutych that Ukraine is ready to take preemptive action in the event of threats from Belarus and Russia’s border regions. According to him, the situation in the northern direction requires additional strengthening of defenses and attention to community safety. The president also separately warned the Belarusian leadership of the possible consequences of any aggressive moves.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that he is allegedly ready to visit Ukraine and discuss relations with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In Kyiv, the reaction to such statements was as restrained and firm as possible, with officials reminding him of Belarus’s role in the war.
