Kremlin Expresses Hope for New Talks with Ukraine
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on the possibility of resuming negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, saying that Moscow “maintains hope” for a new round of trilateral talks involving the United States.
Peskov did not provide a specific date for the meeting. “Our contacts with our American counterparts leave no room for doubt. We continue to value highly the willingness of the United States to provide mediation in seeking a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis,” he said.
He added that the Kremlin hopes for another round of talks, but “there is currently nothing to report regarding specific agreements on the date and time.”
Peskov also commented on the US decision to temporarily ease oil sanctions on Russia: “Without significant volumes of Russian oil, stabilising energy markets is impossible,” he said.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the next round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia is expected next week in Switzerland or Turkey, focusing on prisoner exchanges and a leaders’ meeting. Zelensky stressed that territorial issues can only be resolved at the presidential level.
Separately, Russia has announced that internet shutdowns may become indefinite, and the Kremlin has criticised international law. Peskov also noted that the Kremlin’s Telegram channel operates via VPN.
