The Ministry of Defense has launched a fast-track return process from the North-Western Military District
A digital mechanism has been launched in Ukraine to facilitate the return of soldiers who have left their units without authorization, via the "Army+" app, which allows them to complete the process without unnecessary red tape and immediately select a new unit. The Ministry of Defense says the system is intended to expedite the return of motivated soldiers to the most effective units of the Defense Forces.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has launched a new digital mechanism that allows soldiers who have left their units without authorization to return to service via the “Army+” app by selecting a new unit and completing the procedure in a simplified format, without the traditional paperwork that previously dragged the process out for weeks. This was announced by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who emphasized that the return of soldiers from the Reserve Forces is part of a broader transformation of the service system, which includes new contracts, clear terms of service, increased pay, and a general strengthening of fairness within the military.
According to him, the new approach allows service members to independently initiate their return, complete all stages online, and immediately select a new military unit from the list of available options within their structure. Fedorov noted: “We have launched a comprehensive transformation of the military service system, which includes new contracts, clear terms of service, increased pay, and greater fairness for service members. An important part of this reform is the fast-track return of service members from the Reserve Forces directly to the most effective units of the Defense Forces.”
The mechanism involves several sequential steps: first, a mark indicating absence from duty appears in the app; next, the user submits a report in the services section, after which they select a new military unit, specify their experience and area of service, and sign the document online.
After that, the report is reviewed by unit representatives, who contact the soldier to clarify details, and upon approval, he receives the “En Route” status, which allows five days to arrive at the new duty station. The Ministry of Defense also clarified that a hotline (0 800 605 100) is available for consultations daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Fedorov emphasized that the main idea behind the mechanism is to return motivated individuals to service as quickly as possible and without unnecessary procedures, directing them to where their experience is most needed for the country’s defense: “Our task is to give motivated people the opportunity to return to service without unnecessary bureaucracy and to apply their experience where it will be most useful to the country’s defense.” This was announced by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on Telegram.
