In Bukovina, six participants in an organized scheme were notified of new charges. Among them are four forestry workers and two drivers.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a former forester from one of the divisions of the Chernivtsi Regional Forestry Administration of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.” He involved his son, who also worked as a forester, a forester’s assistant, a forest supervisor, and two drivers in the scheme.
The participants in the scheme allegedly forged applications in the names of citizens, after which they entered false information into the electronic accounting system. Based on this data, the timber was recorded as being sold to individuals at a discounted price.
In reality, the timber was transferred to third parties at commercial prices. According to investigators, a total of more than 4,000 cubic meters of timber was diverted from the state-owned enterprise. The losses to the state are estimated at more than 3.1 million hryvnias.
In addition, in 2024–2025, according to the investigation, the former forest rangers organized the illegal felling of 160 trees within the nature reserve. The damage caused to the environment is estimated at over 19 million UAH.
