Snow fell and a cold snap hit Mount Pip Ivan

In the highlands of the Carpathians, despite it being fall, winter weather conditions have already set in. 

Rescue workers in the Carpathian region are urging tourists planning trips to the mountains to check the weather forecast and prepare responsibly for their hikes.

“Despite it being fall, winter conditions have already set in at high altitudes. Rescue workers are urging tourists planning trips to the mountains to take weather conditions into account and prepare thoroughly for their hikes,” according to a statement from the State Emergency Service in the region.

According to rescue workers, as of 8:00 a.m., it was cloudy on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi. The wind was blowing from the west at a speed of 3 m/s, and the air temperature had dropped to -3 °C.

The State Emergency Service emphasizes that under such weather conditions, tourists must assess their own abilities and experience in advance.

In particular, rescue workers advise choosing a route that matches your physical fitness and experience, dressing warmly, and bringing the necessary equipment.

If weather conditions worsen, they recommend postponing the mountain hike.

Earlier, it was reported that snow had fallen in the Carpathians and the air temperature had dropped to -1 °C.

The State Emergency Service’s Main Directorate in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast reported this on Facebook.

Prior to this, the Carpathians had recorded their first autumn frost and snow. On the morning of September 22, the air temperature on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi dropped to -1°C, and the summit was covered in snow.

An autumn cold snap has arrived in Ukraine, accompanied by rain. However, a prolonged period of cool weather is not expected—by the end of the week, temperatures are expected to rise to comfortable levels. 

The weather in Ukraine is beginning to change rapidly—a noticeable cold snap is sweeping across the country, accompanied by rain. As early as tonight, some regions are forecast to see significant precipitation and unusually low temperatures following several warm days.

In the third decade of September, Ukraine is expected to experience unstable and rainy weather with fluctuating temperatures and gusty winds. The main deterioration in weather conditions will be caused by an active southern cyclone from the Black Sea, which will affect most regions from September 23–25.
