Rescue workers are extinguishing seven forest fires in the Kharkiv region

Efforts to extinguish seven large-scale forest fires are underway in the Kharkiv region. The total area affected by the fires is approximately 153 hectares.

Currently, the region remains under a Class 5 fire danger alert. Under these conditions, even a small fire can quickly spread through forested areas.

Rescue workers, together with forestry employees, continue to fight the fires in the Izyum and Chuhuiv districts.

The largest fire was reported in the Pishchansky Forest District near Izyum. There, coniferous undergrowth is burning across an area of about 47 hectares.

Last week alone, State Emergency Service units extinguished 157 fires in natural ecosystems. The fires destroyed more than 102 hectares of dry vegetation.

The State Emergency Service reminded the public that dry vegetation, high temperatures, and strong winds create favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fire. Citizens were urged to exercise the utmost caution with fire, refrain from burning dry vegetation, and avoid lighting campfires in forests and natural ecosystems.

In Greece, efforts to extinguish a large-scale forest fire west of Athens are continuing for the third day in a row. The fire has destroyed dozens of homes, and about 500 firefighters have been deployed to combat the blaze.

Greek authorities have temporarily suspended outdoor physical labor and certain delivery services in regions where extreme heat is expected. Violators of the new restrictions face fines.
