Three coronal holes have been detected on the Sun, but no magnetic storms are expected on June 24
Three coronal holes have formed on the Sun, but the geomagnetic situation remains stable. According to the British Geological Survey, no significant magnetic storms are forecast for June 24, and the level of solar activity poses no threat to Earth.
“Conditions will remain calm throughout June 24,” according to the British Geological Survey’s forecast.
At the same time, scientists report that three coronal holes are visible on the solar disk. The first high-speed stream from one of these holes is expected to arrive as early as June 25.
Preliminary forecasts indicate that a strong magnetic storm is not expected at this time; however, Earth’s magnetic field will enter a more active state, which will continue through June 26.
