In Volyn, high school employees are on trial for embezzling 1.7 million hryvnias from the budget
In Lutsk, five employees of a high school—including the principal and two of his deputies—will stand trial. They are accused of embezzling more than 1.7 million hryvnias in public funds.
According to the investigation, one of the deputy principals is believed to be the mastermind behind the scheme. The high school staff allegedly fictitiously employed 12 men of draft age and entered data about their work into timesheets, even though they did not actually perform any job duties.
The salaries of these fictitiously employed workers, according to investigators, were transferred to the organizers of the scheme. The men themselves thus received a deferment from mobilization.
The total amount of losses to the budget amounts to 1,762,000 UAH. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.
The defendants have been placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure. However, their guilt must still be proven in court.
