The National Police have charged two Russian soldiers with torturing civilians

Law enforcement officials have charged two Russian servicemen suspected of torturing and unlawfully detaining civilians during the occupation of the village of Bohdanivka in the Kyiv region.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, servicemen of the 239th Tank Regiment of the 90th Tank Division of the Russian Federation’s Central Military District illegally deprived three local residents of their liberty during the temporary occupation.

Among them was a police officer who was at home in civilian clothes. The occupiers beat him and forcibly took him to a basement where two other civilians were already being held.

From March 19 to 21, the men were held without food or water in unsanitary conditions. According to the investigation, one of the captives was tortured, after which he was thrown unconscious into a pit for drilling equipment and covered with a metal lid. Two other men were placed there as well.

One of the detainees managed to escape and give testimony. According to him, a police security officer died from the beatings he received. After the de-occupation, his body was not found. The fate of another civilian remains unknown.

As a reminder, TCC officials from Ivano-Frankivsk region face up to 12 years in prison for torture.

In Kharkiv, a scheme to illegally smuggle conscripts abroad was uncovered, involving a TCC employee and a former “Berkut” officer. According to the investigation, they promised to arrange travel to Slovakia for $18,000.

The SBU detained the head of the Medical Examination Commission in Kropyvnytskyi for selling disability certificates.
