The NBU forecasts losses of more than $2 billion due to the suspension of maritime exports

The National Bank of Ukraine forecasts that, due to the suspension of maritime exports in the second half of 2026, the country will lose more than $2 billion in export revenue.

Currently, cargo is being rerouted to rail, road transport, and Danube ports, but their capacity is insufficient. While Ukraine previously exported 4–4.5 million metric tons of agricultural products per month, alternative routes allow for the export of only about 2.5 million metric tons.

The National Bank of Ukraine notes that the rerouting of logistics will also increase farmers’ costs for transportation and storage of their products.

At the same time, the regulator expects that most of these volumes will be exported in the first half of 2027, which will partially offset current losses.
