The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a commemorative coin dedicated to Alexandra Exter
The National Bank of Ukraine has unveiled a new commemorative coin titled “Ukrainian Avant-Garde: Alexandra Exter.” It marks the launch of a new series within the numismatic program dedicated to Ukrainian avant-garde art and prominent figures of the country’s cultural heritage.
The coin is dedicated to Alexandra Exter—an artist and one of the founders of the Art Deco style. The NBU notes that the new series aims to promote Ukrainian cultural heritage and the contribution of Ukrainian artists to world art.
Key characteristics of the coin:
- denomination — 10 hryvnias;
- material — 999-fine silver;
- precious metal weight — 31.1 g;
- shape — octagon;
- mintage category — “special uncirculated”;
- decorative element — color printing;
- mintage — up to 10,000 pieces.
The obverse of the coin features a sketch of a theatrical costume for a Spanish dance by Alexandra Exter, while the reverse depicts a stylized fragment of a theatrical stage, referencing her scenographic works.
The commemorative coin will be available for purchase starting June 2 at the NBU’s online numismatic store and through participating banks.
