A female General Staff officer was arrested for accepting a $14,000 bribe
A female officer of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was detained in Kyiv on suspicion of accepting a bribe of $14,000. In exchange for this money, she allegedly promised a servicemember that she would help him obtain disability status and secure his discharge from service.
Initially, she offered to use her influence to have the servicemember transferred from a combat unit to a support unit for $7,000–10,000.
However, when this proved difficult, she proposed another option—to assist in securing a Group III disability classification for him, followed by his discharge from military service.
“The cost of such a ‘solution’ had already risen to $14,000. According to the investigation, the officer promised to influence officials at the military hospital to make the appropriate decision in exchange for this money,” the statement reads.
On August 6, 2026, during a meeting in Kyiv, she received $14,000, after which she was detained.
She is charged with receiving an unlawful benefit for influencing a decision made by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion of such a benefit.
She is currently subject to a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.
