Following the incident involving veteran Ruslan Knysh, the National Bank of Ukraine has not received any complaints from people with disabilities regarding issues with bank identification.
This was reported by NBU Deputy Governor Dmytro Oliynyk in response to an inquiry.
At the same time, one request from a person with a Group I disability regarding the updating of identification data and the use of a voiceprint to access banking services is currently under review.
The NBU emphasized that banks are required to verify customers’ identities using personal data, but the law allows this to be done remotely, including via video call. In such cases, another person may assist the customer.
The regulator also monitors banks to ensure they provide accessible services for people with disabilities.
In addition, in February, the NBU sent banks a clarification regarding the need to adapt services to the needs of people with limited mobility.
