Poland deported a Ukrainian man who disrupted the Warsaw Metro system

A Ukrainian citizen was deported from Poland following an incident at the Centrum station on the Warsaw Metro. The man threw a backpack onto the tracks and fled, causing the evacuation of several hundred passengers and disruptions to train service.

Law enforcement officials determined that a 38-year-old Ukrainian man was involved in the incident; he acted out of hooliganism, with no evidence of a contract or terrorist motive. 

The detainee was handed over to Polish border guards, who decided to deport him and transfer him to Ukrainian authorities. The man was also banned from entering Poland and Schengen Area countries for 10 years.

On May 21, a new 60-day extension of temporary restrictions on applying for international protection at the border with Belarus went into effect in Poland. These restrictions limit migrants’ right to apply for international protection while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border. The country’s authorities have once again extended these measures.

In Poland, Ukrainians are increasingly being replaced by workers from Asia and Latin America.
