Border guards in the Odesa region apprehended a fugitive riding a dirt bike
In the Rozdilnyanskyi District of the Odesa Region, officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) prevented an illegal border crossing with Moldova.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
A 42-year-old resident of the Mykolaiv region attempted to flee the country, using a specially purchased off-road motorcycle to navigate the difficult terrain.
The man had carefully prepared for the trip, relying on his own knowledge of the terrain and the bike’s technical capabilities.
The detainee previously worked as a tow truck driver, so he was well-versed in the region’s road network and knew how to plot routes bypassing major highways.
To carry out his plan, the violator chose dirt roads, navigating with the help of a GPS. He waited for favorable weather conditions so that the dirt roads would be suitable for fast travel on two wheels.
However, his attempt to remain unnoticed failed. Border guards intercepted the motorcyclist on the outskirts of a settlement directly near the state border.
“The violator waited for favorable weather conditions and set off toward the border,” the State Border Guard Service press center noted.
Currently, administrative reports have been filed against the detainee for attempting to illegally cross the border.
Law enforcement officials are investigating all details of the incident, and the motocross bike will likely be seized as an instrument of the offense.
As a reminder, in Bukovina, law enforcement dismantled a large-scale channel for conscripts fleeing to Romania.
A foreign national will be tried for passing on information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine and storing weapons.
