The SBU detained an FSB agent who was spying on Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery in the Donetsk region
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was actively tracking the positions of the Defense Forces and transmitting the geographical coordinates of Ukrainian units to the enemy.
In the Donetsk region, counterintelligence officers successfully exposed his illegal activities and seized a mobile phone containing the collected intelligence data.
The suspect is currently in custody, and the locations of Ukrainian defenders have been fully secured against potential attacks.
Russian special services recruited a local resident through personal connections.
“According to the case file, a local unemployed man recruited by the enemy was responsible for directing the attacks. He came to the attention of the Russians through an acquaintance who lives in the Russian Federation and cooperates with Russian special services,” reads the official statement from the SBU press center.
After undergoing the necessary agent training, the suspect began actively gathering information for the benefit of the aggressor country.

The man attempted to identify the firing positions of Ukrainian artillery, the locations of fortifications, as well as the deployment sites of mobile fire groups defending the frontline community.
To maintain secrecy, the suspect personally surveyed the surrounding area and marked the exact coordinates of potential “targets” in detail on an electronic topographic map.
“He stored the collected information on his smartphone for subsequent transmission to his FSB handler,” the Security Service of Ukraine added.
SBU officers exposed the Russian agent in advance and documented all stages of his espionage activities in the Donetsk region.
At the same time, law enforcement officers carried out comprehensive measures that secured the locations of the Defense Forces in the Kramatorsk area.
During the final arrest, a mobile phone was seized from the suspect, which he used directly to collect and store intelligence data, as well as to maintain constant contact with his FSB handler.
This was reported by the SBU press center.
