The Tymoshenko Case: The High Anti-Corruption Court Will Resume the Preliminary Hearing on October 9

The High Anti-Corruption Court will continue the preliminary hearing in the case of People's Deputy Yulia Tymoshenko on October 9.

“Our next hearing is on October 9 at 12:00 p.m. The schedule for future hearings is as follows: October 26 at 1:00 p.m. and October 29 at 10:00 a.m. Then—November 13 at 10:00 a.m. and November 18 at 11:00 a.m.," Tkachenko noted.

During the hearing, Andriy Borshch, a representative of the State Customs Service, commented on the defense’s motion to obtain temporary access to certain documents.

Responding to the judge’s question, Borshch stated that he could not confirm whether the State Customs Service’s database contained the information that Tymoshenko’s defense team sought.

Yulia Tymoshenko herself explained that her defense team is interested in documents regarding the import of three software packages into Ukraine.

According to the lawmaker, the expert provided information in her report regarding the use of three software products during the expert examinations in the case.

“The requested documents may help establish the origin of the relevant software, the date of import, the supplier, and the recipients. This information can be compared with the data from the expert institution. If any discrepancies are found, they will be subject to verification during the court proceedings,” the defendant stated.

When asked by the judge what significance these documents have for the criminal proceedings, Tymoshenko replied that she wants to prove, based on each document, that the audio recording featured in her case was fabricated.

“As a result, they (law enforcement officials—ed.) had no other option and falsified the expert reports,” the lawmaker stated.

At the same time, the prosecutor stated that, in his opinion, Tymoshenko’s defense team is manipulating the evidence to gain temporary access to certain documents.

“The defense already has everything necessary to argue that, in its opinion, the software was obtained improperly in this case,” the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor also called the defense’s motion unfounded.

On January 14, 2026, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) notified Yulia Tymoshenko that she was suspected of offering unlawful benefits to members of parliament.

The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) imposed a bail of 33 million hryvnias on Tymoshenko. The full amount of the bail was paid.

Yulia Tymoshenko stated that the audio recordings released by NABU had nothing to do with her and promised to prove in court that the charges were groundless.

Preliminary proceedings in the case are ongoing. On May 26, a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) submitted an indictment against Tymoshenko to the High Anti-Corruption Court, and on July 7, the court lifted the procedural obligations imposed on her.

On January 21, the High Anti-Corruption Court partially seized Yulia Tymoshenko’s assets. At the same time, the court refused to freeze funds in one of her accounts, as requested by the prosecution.

In addition, the court ruled to freeze part of the assets belonging to the lawmaker’s husband, Oleksandr Tymoshenko. These include a 200 Toyota Land Cruiser and an Audi A8, as well as two garages in Dnipro.

On February 16, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially overturned the lower court’s decision to seize Tymoshenko’s assets.

A preliminary hearing in the case is currently underway. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9 at 12:00 p.m.

Judge Oleg Tkachenko announced this during the hearing.
