The court lifted the seizure of property belonging to Yanukovych's representative

The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv has lifted the freeze on assets belonging to Mykola Yankovsky, a former member of parliament from the Party of Regions, worth over one billion hryvnias. The decision was made after the prosecutor closed the criminal case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

This was reported by “Court Reporter.”

Yankovsky was suspected of organizing the production of medicines in the occupied territory of Horlivka after 2015 through the company “Styrolbiopharm,” which paid taxes to the budget of the terrorist group “DNR.” Despite an investigation that had been ongoing since 2016, formal charges were not filed until July 2024. Real estate, cash, and corporate rights were seized, and part of the property had previously been returned to the suspect’s wife.

Criminal proceedings regarding the financing of Russian occupation groups were terminated in January 2026 at the request of the defense, which emphasized the violation of reasonable investigation deadlines. The former advisor to Viktor Yanukovych and four-term member of parliament currently resides in Cyprus. Law enforcement agencies, which had previously reported the seizure of the influential politician’s assets, have not yet commented on the court’s final decision.

Earlier in Ukraine, the assets of a former member of parliament suspected of financing Russian occupation groups were seized. According to media reports, the individual in question is Mykola Yankovsky.

Recall that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has initiated a bill that would allow for the revocation of previously awarded honorary titles and state awards from those who have betrayed Ukraine.

Serhiy Tsekov, a member of the first convocation of the Verkhovna Rada who served as head of the “Russian Community of Crimea” and first deputy speaker of the Crimean parliament, became the first member of the Russian Federation Council representing the Russian temporary occupation authorities in Crimea; since 2008, he has held the title of Honored Worker of Local Self-Government of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
