A court remanded a collaborator in custody who organized the sham elections in Energodar

Under the procedural supervision of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a local resident who participated in organizing and conducting illegal elections in the temporarily occupied city of Energodar has been notified of her status as a suspect.

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2023, the woman, acting in concert with others, joined the so-called “Precinct Election Commission No. 550” and, together with Russian military personnel, went door-to-door to collect votes for “deputies to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Legislative Assembly.”

She subsequently handed over the used ballots to the occupation commission for counting and forwarding to the invaders’ fake electoral body. The suspect’s actions have been classified under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration). The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention without the right to bail.

Earlier, it was reported that law enforcement officers detained a man who had been recruited by Russian special services. The suspect attempted to secure a leadership position at one of Ukraine’s key energy sector enterprises in order to pass sensitive information to the Russian Federation.

Bogush, a lawyer from Lviv, was convicted of attempting to bribe a prosecutor.

Russia has begun mass recruitment of Ukrainians under the guise of law enforcement officers.
