Digitizing Legal Protection: The Ukrainian National Bar Association Launches a Platform for Military Personnel and Scales Up the "Advocate+" Project

Ukraine is developing a unified CRM system to process legal inquiries from military personnel, veterans, and businesses, and lawyers will be systematically assigned to military brigades.

This is stated in a press release published on the website of the National Bar Association of Ukraine.

New approaches to working with military personnel and entrepreneurs were presented during a meeting of the UNAA Committee on the Protection of Victims of Armed Aggression Against Ukraine, Compensation Mechanisms, and European Integration Legal Support for Recovery. The main focus is on developing the “Lawyer+” project, which will allow for the provision of primary legal aid to defenders and their families directly within military units.

“Our approach is not only to identify problematic issues but also to offer ready-made solutions. In particular, following a previous meeting in Mykolaiv, we have already finalized and submitted 11 specific proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant ministries,” emphasized Committee Chairman Andriy Yermak.

A special digital platform is being launched to systematize this large-scale effort. Through it, service members will be able to quickly submit requests for consultations, and lawyers will be able to process them via a built-in CRM system with a shared knowledge base. The need for such a tool is critical, as a significant portion of requests from military personnel concern not only service, medical boards, or payments, but also complex family, inheritance, and credit matters, as well as enforcement proceedings.

At the same time, the Committee is developing mechanisms to help veterans reintegrate, particularly their return to legal practice, as well as guidelines to assist businesses. For entrepreneurs whose assets have been affected by the war, instructions are being prepared on documenting losses and utilizing international jurisdictions to enforce court decisions regarding compensation.
As is well known, providing qualified legal protection to military personnel is one of the priority areas of the Bar Association’s activities under martial law. It was previously reported that the UNBA, in collaboration with the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine, has already released its third specialized legal guide, which helps soldiers navigate their rights and procedures in various life situations.

As a reminder, since January, the military ombudsman has received nearly 8,000 complaints.

Ukrainian troops have successfully pushed Russian forces back from Lyman.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced a purge of the legal profession and 119 investigations over the past year and a half.
