A Russian agent who was coordinating strikes on the city was exposed in Kharkiv
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a local resident in Kharkiv who is suspected of passing information to Russian intelligence agencies to help them target the city.
According to the investigation, the man independently contacted Russian representatives via Telegram channels and offered his assistance.
Following instructions from his Russian handlers, the suspect gathered information about the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces bases.
In particular, he was interested in:
- the coordinates of backup command posts;
- locations where military equipment was concentrated;
- logistics depots and other military facilities.
According to the SBU, Russia could have used the information obtained to prepare combined strikes on Kharkiv using guided bombs and attack drones.
To obtain the necessary information, the man, according to the investigation, discreetly questioned his wife and acquaintances about facilities of interest to Russian intelligence services.
At the same time, the suspect himself rarely left the house.
He plotted the collected information on Google Maps and then added corresponding comments to the markers to prepare reports for his Russian handlers.
SBU officers documented the suspect’s activities and detained him at his residence.
During a search, law enforcement officers seized three smartphones that the man used for covert communication with representatives of the Russian Federation and which he regularly replaced.
Investigators informed him that he was suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the unauthorized dissemination of information regarding the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations under martial law.
The man is currently in custody.
If found guilty, he faces up to 8 years in prison.
The SBU is continuing its investigation, during which law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s activities and any possible contacts with representatives of Russian intelligence services.

Earlier, the Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained an FSB agent in the Rivne region who, according to the investigation, was coordinating Russian shelling of the western region and preparing contract killings of Ukrainian military personnel.
In addition, in the Kharkiv region, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a Russian agent who was assisting the occupiers with the registration of Starlink terminals. According to the investigation, he registered at least 27 satellite communication terminals for representatives of the Russian Federation.
The SBU and the National Police uncovered 12 schemes to evade mobilization in eight regions.
In Volyn, the State Bureau of Economic Security uncovered tax evasion totaling nearly ₴28 million in the flower business.
In Kyiv, a scheme to evade mobilization involving a former official was uncovered.
