In Khmelnytskyi, during a document check, a man attacked a police officer and injured him with a sharp object.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred while the officer was on duty. The attacker was apprehended, and the injured police officer received the necessary medical care. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and determining the legal classification of the crime.
It is noted that the incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on S. Bandera Street. While the officer was checking documents, he was wounded by an unknown sharp object.
According to law enforcement, the assailant immediately fled the scene. The police have already identified the man, and efforts to apprehend him are currently underway.
The injured officer was hospitalized.
Later, the police reported the arrest of a suspect in the attack on the officer. The suspect turned out to be a 52-year-old local resident.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 345 (intentionally causing minor or moderate bodily injury to a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of that officer’s official duties) of the Criminal Code.
The investigation is currently ongoing. The issue of formally charging the detainee and selecting a preventive measure is being decided.
