The first strawberries have appeared in Kyiv: prices range from 190 to nearly 600 hryvnias per kilogram
The first strawberries appeared on store shelves in Kyiv at the end of March. Some supermarkets are still preparing for the start of the season, while others are already offering both affordable and premium varieties of the fruit.
The lowest prices are currently found at street vendors.
For example, near the “Kharkivska” metro station, a kilogram of strawberries can be purchased for approximately 190 UAH.
In large retail chains, the price is significantly higher:
- at Varus — starting at 299.90 UAH/kg;
- at Silpo — about 349 UAH/kg, or 99 UAH for 250 g;
- at Fora — 99.90 UAH for 250 g;
- at Metro (Metro Chef line) — up to 599 UAH per kilogram.
At the same time, strawberries have not yet appeared in the ATB and Novus chains as of now.
Thus, prices for the first berries of the season vary significantly depending on the sales format and segment—from budget options at markets to premium offerings in supermarkets.
As a reminder, the rise in buckwheat prices on the Ukrainian market is due to a decrease in last year’s harvest and a planned reduction in inventories ahead of the new season.
Prices for vegetables used in borscht remain stable in 2026.
As a reminder, prices in Ukraine rose by 1% over the month in February.
