In Lviv, a man stabbed a TCC soldier; the court handed down a verdict
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv found local resident Maksym Baibukh guilty of wounding a TCC servicemember with a knife during emergency alert drills. The court sentenced him to three years of restricted freedom but suspended the sentence with a two-year probationary period.
Stabbed the soldier in the shoulder
The incident occurred on May 29, 2026, at approximately 12:09 p.m. near building No. 23 on Mykola Khvylovy Street in Lviv.
The servicemember, a member of the Shevchenkivskyi District Military Registration and Enlistment Office, was conducting conscription notification activities alongside other members of the team. His duties included verifying military registration documents and delivering summonses.
According to the case file, Baibukh was carrying a folding knife and, in an attempt to stop the soldier from performing his official duties, stabbed him in the left shoulder with the blade.
As a result of the attack, the military officer sustained two cut wounds. Experts classified them as minor bodily injuries that caused a temporary health impairment.
After the attack, the man fled. As previously reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement officers later tracked him down at his aunt’s apartment and detained him.
He Pleaded Guilty and Expressed Remorse
In court, Maksym Baybukh fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. The victim did not attend the court hearing and asked the court to determine the punishment at its discretion.
Judge Ruslan Yezersky found the Lviv resident guilty under Part 2 of Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—of intentionally causing minor bodily injury to a public official in connection with the official’s duties.
In determining the sentence, the court took into account, in particular, the defendant’s sincere remorse and the fact that he had no prior criminal record.
Three years of restricted liberty were replaced with probation
The court sentenced Baibukha to three years of restricted liberty. At the same time, he was exempted from serving the imposed sentence and placed on probation for a period of two years.
The court ordered that the folding knife used to injure the servicemember be destroyed.
The verdict may still be appealed.
