A young man died in Mykolaiv while jumping off a pier into the Bug Estuary
The tragedy occurred due to a failure to follow water safety rules: a 17-year-old boy jumped into the water and did not resurface. His friend immediately tried to rescue him on his own, but his search efforts were unsuccessful.
Divers from the State Emergency Service arrived at the scene and, during the search and rescue operation, discovered the body of the deceased teenager about 30 meters from the shore and brought it ashore. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the exact causes and circumstances of this tragedy.
Rescuers urge parents and adults to constantly remind children of safety rules when near bodies of water, not to leave them unattended, and to strictly warn them against dangerous jumps into the water in unmarked areas, as such activities can be life-threatening.
