In a number of regions, consumers were left without power due to severe weather and shelling by Russia

As of the morning of August 19, consumers in 300 communities across six regions of Ukraine remain without power due to severe weather.

In four additional regions, Russian attacks have caused new power outages.

Due to thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind, 300 settlements in six regions are completely or partially without power:

  • Sumy;
  • Chernihiv;
  • Kyiv;
  • Poltava;
  • Cherkasy;
  • Kirovohrad;

Repair crews from regional power companies are already restoring damaged power lines.

Some power supply issues arose due to Russian strikes. New power outages were reported in the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions.

Restoration work has begun in all regions where the security situation allows power workers to operate.

As of 9:30 a.m. on August 19, electricity consumption was 9.5% lower than the previous day.

Ukrenergo attributed the downward trend to a drop in air temperatures across Ukraine, as well as clear weather in most regions.

Energy officials are urging Ukrainians to shift their peak electricity consumption to the period between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.—that is when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently.

This was reported by NEC “Ukrenergo” on Facebook.

In some areas of Zaporizhzhia, power outages occurred following a Russian strike. Critical infrastructure facilities are being switched to alternative power sources.

In Balakliya, Kharkiv Oblast, three members of the same family were injured as a result of a Russian drone strike. According to preliminary data, Russian troops used a “Geran-2” type UAV.

On August 18, the Russian army killed one resident of the Donetsk region and wounded four others.

As a result of a Russian attack on August 18, the premises of the “Kyivguma” factory in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, sustained damage. No employees were injured, and the damage is not considered critical, according to preliminary estimates.

On the evening of August 18 and overnight on August 19, Russian troops attacked the Nikopol and Kryvyi Rih districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast more than 10 times with drones and artillery. As a result of the shelling, an administrative building, a private home, and other civilian structures were damaged, and a fire broke out. According to preliminary data, there were no fatalities or injuries.

Earlier, a Russian drone attacked a car carrying bread near Zaporizhzhia.
