The Rada Wants to Establish a Temporary Investigation Commission to Assess Public Safety During the War
People’s Deputies Lesya Zaburanna and Oleksandr Kovalchuk of the “Servant of the People” faction are proposing that the Verkhovna Rada establish a Temporary Investigative Commission to investigate possible violations of legislation related to public safety during martial law.
The commission is also tasked with examining issues related to the prevention of and response to emergencies, as well as the implementation of comprehensive resilience plans for regions and individual cities.
The corresponding draft resolution No. 15561 was registered with the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday, August 26, according to the parliament’s website. The text of the draft resolution is not yet available on the parliament’s website.
The day before, the Verkhovna Rada received nominations from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to appoint Yevhen Khmara as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense and Andriy Sybiga as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Prior to this, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered Bill No. 15431, which provides for a large-scale reform of the hunting industry, the digitization of the sector, and changes to hunting regulations. At the same time, the bill has already drawn sharp criticism from animal welfare and environmental organizations, which are calling on members of parliament to reject it as early as the first reading.
As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada prematurely terminated the mandates of MPs Denys Maslov and Vitaliy Bezgin, who were members of the “Servant of the People” faction. Parliament adopted the relevant resolutions at a plenary session on July 17.
