In Ternopil, a man shot himself inside the TCC
In Ternopil, law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a conscript who committed suicide on the premises of the city’s Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center. The tragedy occurred on the evening of May 23, 2026.
The incident was reported by the Ternopil Regional Recruitment and Social Support Center.
According to the agency, around 7:00 p.m., the man was invited to the city recruitment center to undergo a standard procedure to verify his military registration data.
While at the facility, the man went to the bathroom. There, he locked the door from the inside and fired a shot from a firearm. The resulting injury proved fatal.
After military personnel heard the sound of a gunshot, they broke down the door and found the man with a severe injury. Medical personnel and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene promptly.
“Before the medics arrived, the soldiers tried to provide the necessary first aid. Despite the measures taken, they were unable to save the man,” the regional TCC and SP reported.
Currently, investigative teams, forensic experts, and representatives of the military prosecutor’s office are working at the scene. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy, including verifying the origin of the weapon and the motives behind the deceased’s actions.
Earlier, in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, a conflict occurred between a veteran and representatives of an alert group, which included servicemen from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, as well as representatives of a volunteer unit of the local community. As a result of the incident, the man sustained bodily injuries.
Earlier in Dnipro, SBU and National Police officers detained an employee of one of the district TCCs who is suspected of extorting a bribe from a war veteran.
In Odesa, a TCC vehicle was attacked while transporting conscripts.
The head of the Zhytomyr Military Registration and Enlistment Office submitted a corrected income declaration.
