In Zlatopol, in the Kharkiv region, a grenade explosion claimed the lives of three men
Three men were killed in an explosion caused by a grenade in the town of Zlatopil, Lozova District, Kharkiv Oblast. According to the Kharkiv Oblast Police, they died at the scene from their injuries.
Law enforcement officials have preliminarily determined that the men were standing near a car and drinking alcohol. According to eyewitnesses, one of them handed his jacket to another. While checking the pocket, the man discovered a grenade.
According to the police’s preliminary account, the safety pin was pulled out due to careless handling of the munition, after which the explosion occurred. Among the deceased are two men born in 2003 and one born in 1999.
Earlier, Zlatopol Mayor Mykola Baksheev reported that the deaths were caused by careless handling of the explosive. Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under paragraph 1, part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the note “accident.” The police are investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy, and the pretrial investigation is ongoing.
