Ukraine Ready for Talks with Israel, Says Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Iran supplied Russia with Shahed-type drones, while Moscow subsequently helped develop and adapt these technologies.

This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine initially tried to prevent the transfer of drones and approached the Iranian side directly. However, official Tehran denied its involvement and downplayed the extent of cooperation.

“They said, ‘Alright… we are not allies here. We sold the Russians some Shaheds — there will be 1,200 or 1,300, and that’s it.’ But that was untrue. Of course, they lied,” Zelenskyy emphasised.

The President stressed that Russia has established its own drone production, including cheaper variants, and confirmed the likelihood of technology transfer from Russia to Iran. “Yes, I am confident,” he replied when asked.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is already assisting other countries in countering such threats, sending three teams of military experts to assess air defence systems. “Three teams are already there. Now it’s up to the countries to decide how to use our experience,” he said.

He clarified that this assistance specifically concerns air defence: “They requested our expert help on air defence, not on offensive operations.”

The President also linked the spread of drone technologies to insufficient international pressure on Russia. “It’s a pity. We do not see any power in the world that can truly stop Putin,” he said.

Regarding potential dialogue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Zelenskyy said: “He has what I need, and I have what he needs. So I am ready for this dialogue.”

This week, the Israeli government officially informed the United States of a severe shortage of interceptor missiles needed to counter ballistic threats from Iran.

The Israel Defence Forces plan to continue active operations against the Iranian regime for at least three weeks, until the Passover holiday.
