Ukraine is seeking alternatives to PAC-3 missiles due to a shortage, says Zelenskyy

Ukraine is seeking alternatives to PAC-3 missiles due to a shortage, says Zelenskyy

There remains a severe shortage of PAC-3 missiles worldwide, most of which our partners are currently diverting to the Middle East. Ukraine, which also needs these air defense systems, is negotiating with other countries to find alternative solutions.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists.

According to the head of state, the shortage of these missiles is a chronic problem.

“The global shortage of PAC-3 missiles, and in Ukraine in particular, has never ended, unfortunately. As you know, total production is about 60 missiles per month,” he explained.

Zelenskyy emphasized that even an increase in production in Europe is not enough to fully meet the demand. At the same time, most anti-ballistic resources are currently being directed to regions of active combat operations, particularly the Middle East.

“We see where our partners are sending all the anti-ballistic packages—to places where the situation is very tense today, primarily the Middle East. Unfortunately, Ukraine is sometimes forgotten,” the president emphasized.

He added that Ukraine is actively working to resolve the issue.

“To be honest, not only Ukraine but the world needs to find an alternative as soon as possible. We are negotiating with two countries to make this possible,” the head of state noted.

In addition, the president emphasized the need to develop Ukraine’s own defense-industrial complex. According to him, Ukraine must do everything possible to create its own anti-ballistic systems and reduce dependence on foreign supplies.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war in the Middle East would inevitably lead to a reduction in the supply of critically important interceptor missiles for Ukraine’s air defense system.
