Ukraine is awaiting the official opening of EU accession talks on May 26

Kyiv, together with Chisinau, expects substantive negotiations on European Union membership to begin in earnest as early as the end of this month. This involves launching the first cluster, which covers the fundamental political chapters necessary for further integration. 

This was reported by Radio Free Europe correspondent Rikard Jozwiak.

Foreign Minister Sibiga officially called on his European counterparts to support the schedule for opening negotiation chapters during a meeting in Brussels. According to preliminary forecasts, the next stages of the integration process and the opening of other thematic blocks could take place as early as mid-June. Currently, the Ukrainian side is finalizing all preparatory procedures to successfully pass the first stage of assessing the compliance of its legislation with EU standards.

Active preparations for launching the negotiation process are underway at the level of relevant ministries and European institutions. The opening of the first cluster will be an important signal of the transition from political promises to the technical stage of accession. EU representatives note that the dynamics of further negotiations will depend on the pace of implementing the reforms outlined in the initial chapters of the integration package.
