Ukraine and Denmark Will Expand Their Defense Partnership

Ukraine and Denmark Will Expand Their Defense Partnership

Ukraine and Denmark are working to deepen cooperation in the defense sector, focusing on financing Ukrainian arms production, developing anti-ballistic capabilities, training military personnel, and mobilizing additional resources for the needs of the Defense Forces.

During the talks, the parties discussed expanding support for Ukraine’s key defense initiatives, including the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), the Czech Initiative, and the “Danish model” for financing Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex.

Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Denmark for its consistent support of Ukraine and its contribution to key defense priorities. This includes, in particular, support for the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), the Czech Initiative, and the effective “Danish model.” Denmark’s role in the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine was specifically highlighted. “This is an important contribution to the development of Ukraine’s air capabilities,” the Ministry of Defense noted.

One of the key areas of cooperation remains the modernization of the training center for Ukrainian military personnel.

Denmark continues to implement this project, which aims to improve the quality of personnel training and adapt training programs to modern warfare conditions.

During a meeting in Kyiv between Mykhailo Fedorov and Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Brøus, special attention was given to the implementation of the Drone Deal between the two countries.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies is mutually beneficial.

“Ukraine is ready to share with its partners the experience and innovations that work on the battlefield. This is the foundation of a win-win cooperation: Ukraine receives more resources for the front lines, while Denmark gains access to Ukrainian combat experience, data, and modern warfare technologies. Separately, the parties discussed the possibility of launching joint innovation programs to support startups in the field of security solutions in both countries,” the ministry emphasized.

Another strategic area of cooperation will be the creation of a European solution to counter ballistic threats.

Ukraine is counting on the support of Denmark and other partners in implementing a joint anti-ballistic project, which is intended to strengthen protection against modern missile attacks.

During talks with Serhiy Boev, Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration, Danish representatives also discussed the possibility of unlocking funds from the European Peace Facility (EPF).

This amounts to approximately €6 billion, which could be directed toward the critical needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the procurement of weapons and equipment and support for defense programs.

Expanding the Ukrainian-Danish defense partnership is expected to enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, accelerate the development of military technologies, and provide additional resources to defend the country in wartime.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Denmark are embarking on a new phase of cooperation in the agricultural sector, moving from recovery to the implementation of joint investment projects even amid the war.

The Danish government has decided to promptly adjust the structure of its defense aid and provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with an additional 15,000 long-range artillery rounds. This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
