Ukrenergo has urged Ukrainians to conserve electricity until 10:00 p.m.
Electricity consumption has risen in Ukraine, so Ukrenergo has urged citizens to use high-power electrical appliances sparingly throughout the day and to limit their use until 10:00 p.m.
On the morning of September 24, consumption was 1.8% higher than at the same time the previous day (9:30 a.m.). Ukrenergo attributed this to cloudy and rainy weather across most of the country. Due to the unfavorable weather conditions, the efficiency of residential solar power plants decreased, so consumers began drawing more electricity from the main grid.
The day before, on September 23, the daily peak consumption also rose—it was 3.3% higher than on September 22.
“Given the weather conditions, the need for energy conservation remains today. Please limit your use of high-power electrical appliances from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.,” the company urged.
In addition, as a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, new power outages were reported in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Vinnytsia regions. Where the security situation allows, emergency repair work is underway.
Due to heavy rains and strong winds, more than 600 settlements in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions have been left with no electricity or only partial power.
Ukrenergo emphasized that the situation in the power grid may change, so consumers are advised to follow announcements from their distribution system operators.
This was reported by NEC “Ukrenergo.”
No power outages are forecast for Ukraine on Thursday, September 24.
Ukrenergo provided a forecast for power outages on September 22.
Power outages were recorded in four regions of Ukraine due to shelling by the Russian Federation.
In August, Ukraine exported approximately 381,000 MWh of electricity, which was nearly double the volume of imports, which amounted to 184,000 MWh. Net exports totaled about 197,000 MWh, allowing the country to maintain its status as a net exporter for the second consecutive month.
