The government has expanded the eligibility criteria for the eOselya program for defenders
Ukraine has expanded the “eOselya” preferential mortgage program, and now veterans and the families of fallen defenders will be able to obtain housing at a reduced interest rate of 3%. The government will partially subsidize the interest, gradually adjusting the loan terms over the next few years. The new rules are set to take effect in a month.
Veterans and families of fallen defenders in Ukraine will gain access to preferential mortgages under the “єОселя” program at a reduced rate of 3%, which will make it significantly easier for them to resolve housing issues after their service or the loss of loved ones.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on her Telegram channel, explaining that the government will subsidize the difference in the interest rate, ensuring that this category of borrowers receives loans at a 3% rate for the first ten years, and starting in the 11th year, the rate will increase to 6%. The government has also updated the criteria for determining the maximum size of housing that can be purchased under the program. The following limits have been set for apartments: 52.5 m² for a single person, 73.5 m² for a family of two or three, plus an additional 21 m² for each subsequent family member starting with the fourth, but no more than 115.5 m² in total.

Different standards apply to single-family homes: 62.5 m² for a single person, 83.5 m² for a family of two or three, and an additional 21 m² for each subsequent family member, with a limit of 125.5 m². The government emphasizes that these changes are part of a broader policy to support military personnel and their families, and the program will continue to be adapted to ensure more accessible conditions for obtaining housing for those who defended Ukraine. This was stated in a Telegram post by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The Verkhovna Rada rejected all six resolutions to repeal the law on amendments to the 2026 state budget, allowing the process for its signing to begin.
