The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has exposed a Russian agent who was coordinating strikes on northern regions
The SBU’s Military Counterintelligence Directorate, in cooperation with the State Bureau of Investigations, has exposed yet another agent of the Russian special services within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the investigation, the detainee is an inspector with the State Border Guard Service who, according to law enforcement officials, was recruited by Russian intelligence services. He allegedly coordinated airstrikes on northern regions of Ukraine.
As investigators established, the suspect mapped out routes on Google Maps to ensure the “safe” passage of Russian missiles and drones around Ukraine’s air defense system.
During official trips to the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, he, according to the SBU, recorded the positions of radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems, and mobile fire units.
He organized the collected information into digital maps showing routes and terrain features.
According to the investigation, the agent stored the data on his own smartphone and planned to transmit it to a handler from Russian military intelligence (GRU), whose identity has already been established.
In addition, on the instructions of a Russian intelligence officer, he attempted to identify the locations of Ukrainian military drone units and energy infrastructure facilities.
The SBU detained the suspect during a reconnaissance mission near a potential target. During searches, his phone was seized, containing materials prepared for transmission to the enemy.
The man has been notified of charges of treason committed under martial law. He is being held in custody without the right to bail.
He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was conducted by the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation under the procedural supervision of the Chernihiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Central Region.
