Egg prices have risen sharply in Ukrainian supermarkets

The price of chicken eggs continues to rise in Ukraine. Over the past two weeks, the average price of a dozen “Yasensvit” C1 eggs has increased by nearly 13%, and price differences across various supermarkets reach tens of hryvnias.

As of September 23, the average price for a dozen “Yasensvit” C1 eggs is 84.25 UAH. At the same time, in retail chains, the price per dozen depends on the manufacturer, category, and packaging format.

According to the “Minfin” portal, in early September, a dozen “Yasensvit” C1 eggs cost an average of 64.50 UAH.

The price subsequently rose gradually:

• September 1 — 64.50 UAH;
• September 9 — 74.75 UAH;
• September 1 — 79.25 UAH;
• September 19–21 — 79.99 UAH;
• September 22–23 — 84.25 UAH.

Thus, from September 9 to September 22, the average price per package rose by 9.50 UAH, or approximately 12.7%.

Compared to the beginning of the month, the price increase is even more significant: since September 1, the average price per dozen has risen by 19.75 UAH, or approximately 30.6%.

Prices for eggs of the same category can vary significantly depending on the retail chain and the manufacturer.

At Novus, a package of ten “Yasensvit” C1 eggs costs 79.99 UAH. A dozen “Kvochka” C1 eggs sells for 78.99 UAH, and “Zlata Kladka” C1 eggs for 81.12 UAH.

At ATB, a dozen “Svoia Linia” C1-category eggs costs 73.30 UAH. Other current offers include “Yasensvit” C1 for 79.90 UAH, “Kvochka” for 78.90 UAH, and “Poltavske” for 79.90 UAH.

At Silpo, prices also depend on the manufacturer and category. A dozen “From a Good Hen” C1 eggs cost 39.19 UAH. Meanwhile, a dozen “Yasensvit” C1 table eggs sell for 78.63 UAH, “Yasensvit Real Giants” in the C0 category for 91.47 UAH, and “Yasensvit Mixed” with eggs of varying weights—for 78.10 UAH.

At Auchan, Category C1 eggs are sold individually for 5.80 UAH, so a dozen costs 58 UAH. Other options include a dozen “Auchan” C1 eggs for 74 UAH, “Yasensvit Free-Range” C1 eggs for 93.90 UAH, and “This Is an Egg! Huge" C0-category eggs for 90.10 UAH.

At Megamarket, a dozen “Yasensvit” C1 eggs cost 88.50 UAH. Other offers include “Kvochka Free-Range” C1 for 98 UAH, “Kvochka Homestay” C0 for 99.50 UAH, and “Shanichi” C1 for 102 UAH.

Thus, the price of a dozen eggs at popular retail chains varies significantly even within the same category.

Shoppers should pay attention not only to the price but also to the producer, the egg category, the packaging method, and product labeling. The most expensive among the listed options are individual C0-category eggs and products labeled “Free-Range,” while standard C1 eggs can be found at a lower price.

As a reminder, in Ukraine, buckwheat groats prices are expected to rise during the 2026/27 marketing season due to limited supply and a reduction in planted acreage. According to analysts’ estimates, the total supply of buckwheat will reach 112.2 thousand metric tons, which is nearly 30% less than the previous season’s figure and only slightly exceeds domestic consumption of 95 thousand metric tons.
