In Ukraine, mobile operators will be required to operate for more than 10 hours without power
The Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to require the largest mobile operators—Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell—to maintain service beyond the current 10-hour standard.
The new rules are being developed as part of efforts to prepare the digital infrastructure for potential prolonged blackouts during the winter. The exact duration of network operation will be announced after the relevant resolution is adopted. To meet the new requirements, operators will have to increase their investments in batteries, generators, and equipment for base stations. At the same time, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is promoting the expansion of off-grid internet using xPON technology and is developing a coverage map for it.

As of August 7, Kyiv is stepping up preparations for the heating season amid ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The capital plans to create 1,000 MW of additional heat generation capacity and prepare 100 emergency heating centers in case of emergencies.
Following one of Russia’s most intense nighttime attacks on Kyiv on August 5, elevated levels of air pollution were recorded in the capital. The situation is worst in the western and eastern districts of the city, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached unhealthy levels.
