Onion prices have risen in Ukraine

Onion prices have risen in Ukraine

Prices for onions have risen on Ukraine’s domestic market since the beginning of this week. Average selling prices are already 21% higher than at the end of last week.

According to EastFruit analysts, most Ukrainian farmers are currently willing to sell onions for 13–20 UAH per kilogram.

The price increase is primarily attributed to high demand from wholesale companies and retail chains. Purchases are actively being made both for current sales and for future storage.

Another factor is the reduced supply of high-quality onions on the market. Farmers are trying to store as much of the best produce from the new harvest as possible.

Currently, prices for onions are already 32% higher than they were in early September 2025.

At the same time, market participants consider the current price increase to be temporary.

The harvest season is still underway on Ukrainian farms, so onion supply will remain high at least until mid-October. This could ease price pressure once the current period of active purchasing ends.

Thus, the current spike in onion prices may prove to be short-lived, as new harvest volumes continue to enter the market.

This was reported by EastFruit.
