The price of white cabbage has risen sharply in Ukraine

The price of white cabbage has risen sharply in Ukraine

Ukraine has seen a significant increase in the price of white cabbage due to a seasonal supply shortage.

Currently, Ukrainian farmers are selling white cabbage at 12–20 UAH per kilogram, which is approximately 52% more expensive than at the end of last week.

Experts attribute the price increase to the end of the early cabbage season and a shortage of mid-early and mid-late varieties.

“The harvest of early cabbage is coming to an end, while the mass harvest of mid-season and mid-late varieties has not yet begun,” the report states.

Demand for cabbage remains stable, but limited supply is further driving prices up. According to analysts, the current price of cabbage from the 2026 harvest is approximately 20% higher than during the same period last year.

Market participants expect the situation to change in the near future. Once the mass harvest of mid-season cabbage varieties begins, supply will increase, which could potentially lead to lower prices.

A new price reversal has begun in Ukraine’s vegetable market: some products have risen sharply in price despite the summer season, while others, on the contrary, continue to become cheaper. The most notable increases were seen in cucumbers and young cabbage, which rose by several hryvnias over the course of a week. Against this backdrop, the market remains volatile and unpredictable, with sharp price fluctuations even within a single segment.

This summer, prices for dairy and meat products in Ukraine are expected to rise by between 8% and 20%. Denis Marchuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, announced this during a speech at Media Center Ukraine. The expert cited labor costs, the hryvnia’s exchange rate against foreign currencies, and the overall inflation rate as the key factors directly influencing the final price of goods.
