Laura Lumer, a well-known activist in the MAGA movement, has arrived in Ukraine
Journalist Ostap Yarysh reported on the arrival in Ukraine of American blogger and activist Laura Loomer. He noted that he had previously written about her views and activities.
Yarish writes:
“So, until recently, Laura Loomer, like many ultra-conservative American bloggers, was spreading anti-Ukrainian rhetoric. In February 2024, she wrote: ‘I really don’t like Ukraine. I’ve never been there. But nothing good comes to mind when I think of Ukraine. On the other hand, I don’t have a single bad feeling about Russia.” She also wrote that Ukraine is full of Nazis, opposed providing aid, and so on.
Recently, Lumer stated that she had fallen victim to Russian propaganda and that from now on she is “officially for Ukraine.” Today, her rhetoric is indeed radically different. “I just arrived in Ukraine. It was incredibly difficult to get here because of the Russian terrorists who have destroyed the airspace,” wrote
Lumer upon arriving in Kyiv. “I want to see Ukraine with my own eyes. I’ll try to find evidence to refute the propaganda I was fed. And if I don’t find any, I’ll tell everyone about it so they, too, can come here and see the truth.”
For many, the news of Lumer’s arrival came as a surprise, but her visit had been in the works for some time—interest grew particularly after her partner visited Odesa and Kyiv last month. Following her trip, Laura Lumer plans to produce a special episode of her podcast. I know of several very interesting meetings that are planned for her and her team, so I hope that MAGA Americans will have some really good content to look forward to. But the podcast is just part of it.
On the very first day of her trip, Lumer posted a series of tweets that collectively garnered over 1.5 million views on Twitter. In them, she writes about how Russia, together with China, is interfering in U.S. elections. She discusses how Russia is killing members of religious minorities who do not belong to the Russian Orthodox Church. How Russia has abducted thousands of Ukrainian children. How Russia is helping Iran kill U.S. citizens—and supports a regime that wishes Donald Trump dead. In short, topics that resonate particularly strongly with a conservative audience.
There is plenty of information about these issues in the American media, but it has been lacking on MAGA bloggers’ platforms. And it appears that Laura Lumer is determined to change that. “I can’t wait to show millions of Trump supporters and Americans just how brutal Russia is,” the blogger wrote. “And why the U.S. could be the next target if we don’t wake up.”
Well, we’re looking forward to it, too.”
Laura Loomer (Laura Elizabeth Loomer) is an American blogger, political activist, and media personality known for her right-wing views and provocative social media posts. She was born on May 21, 1993, in Tucson, Arizona, USA. In 2015, she graduated from Barry University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Loomer began her public career as a political activist and has worked with organizations such as Project Veritas, the Geller Report, Rebel News, and InfoWars.
