The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has provided a forecast of what the weather might be like in Ukraine in July

Experts at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center have analyzed the climatic characteristics of July in Ukraine and outlined preliminary weather trends for the second month of summer. According to their estimates, July may continue to see above-normal temperatures.

 

Ukrainians were reminded that July is the warmest month of the year and is characterized by unstable weather, including thunderstorms, squalls, downpours, and periods of hot, dry weather.

Average July Temperatures

According to climate data, the average monthly air temperature in July is approximately +19…+24.8°C across Ukraine and +13…+18°C in the Carpathians.

Absolute minimum and maximum temperatures

The absolute minimum temperature in July ranges from +0.1 to +9°C on average across the country; in the southern regions, it reaches +9.1…+12.8°C, and in the Carpathians, it ranges from +1.6°C to -0.6°C.

The absolute maximum is:

  • across Ukraine, from +33.4 to +39.6°C;
  • in the southern and eastern regions, as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Vinnytsia regions, locally +40.0…+41.6°C;
  • in mountainous areas, around +26.6…+37.0°C.

Precipitation in July

The average monthly precipitation in July is:

  • 62–119 mm in the western, northern, and Vinnytsia regions;
  • in the Carpathians, 131–170 mm;
  • in the rest of the country, 37–75 mm;
  • in the southeast, 23–36 mm.

Forecast for July 2026

The average monthly air temperature is expected to range from +21.8 to +26.0°C across Ukraine and from +18 to +20°C in the Carpathians, which is 2°C above normal, and 3°C above normal in the western regions.

Monthly precipitation is forecast at 26–71 mm across Ukraine and 79–119 mm in the Carpathians and the Carpathian Foothills, which is 60–75% of the norm, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

On Monday, June 29, Ukraine will see dry weather with light cloud cover and no precipitation. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center’s forecast, winds will be variable in direction at speeds of 3–8 m/s. 

An abnormal heat wave in Europe has led to at least 18 deaths.

France has faced power outages amid a record-breaking heat wave that has swept across much of Western Europe. Several regions have reported power outages, as well as the imposition of emergency restrictions and the temporary closure of educational institutions.
