On the afternoon of July 31, a series of powerful explosions rocked Khmelnytskyi without an air raid alert being issued. According to eyewitnesses, at least five explosions were heard in the city.
A thick plume of smoke rose above the scene after the explosions. According to preliminary information, the cause may have been the planned detonation of old munitions. This information was also confirmed by a source who reported the detonation of munitions in the vicinity of the city.
Serhiy Tyurin, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, reported that all relevant emergency services are on the scene. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties. No official information regarding the causes of the explosions has been released at this time.
