Video: car explodes in Odesa, one person injured
On the morning of 16 February, a car exploded in Odesa. Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
The explosion occurred ten days after a similar case in the Kyivskyi district of Odesa, where a man was killed.
The Security Service of Ukraine has classified that previous explosion as a terrorist act.
At present, one injured person has been reported and hospitalised.
Investigators are working to establish whether the victim was the intended target or a случайная жертва. Experts are also expected to determine the type of explosive device used and the method of detonation after initial investigative actions are completed. The circumstances and motives behind the incident remain under investigation.
Separately, police in Kyiv have opened an inquiry into a car explosion in the Holosiivskyi district that occurred on the evening of 11 February 2026. This is not the first such incident in Kyiv in recent months.
In January 2026, an SUV belonging to a serviceman was blown up in the Obolonskyi district in a case classified as a terrorist attack. Another explosion also occurred in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, where a vehicle detonated.
It is worth recalling that last April two explosions took place in different districts of Kyiv — one in the Desnianskyi district and another in the Dniprovskyi district.
