U.S. President’s Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Kyiv. They arrived in the capital and were already at Kyiv Central Station—this is their first visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
U.S. presidential representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Kyiv. The American special envoys were spotted at Kyiv Central Station. For Witkoff and Kushner, this is their first visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Their visit comes amid active diplomatic contacts between Kyiv and Washington regarding an end to the war. The U.S. side is participating in negotiations and discussions on possible paths to ending hostilities.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine expects the visit by the American representatives to be as constructive and substantive as possible. According to Zelenskyy, Kyiv is interested in substantive talks with the United States and is ready to work on solutions that could bring the war closer to an end. Security guarantees for Ukraine are of particular importance during these negotiations. Kyiv insists that any potential end to the war must ensure reliable conditions that will prevent Russia from launching a new aggression.

At the same time, the specific agenda for the meetings between Witkoff and Kushner in Kyiv has not yet been made public. Steve Witkoff is a special representative of the U.S. president and is involved in diplomatic efforts regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine. Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, is also involved in the negotiation process.

Their visit to Kyiv is also significant because, previously, representatives of the U.S. administration had primarily held talks with the Ukrainian side outside of Ukraine. Now, however, Witkoff and Kushner have arrived directly in the capital. The Ukrainian side expects that during the visit, they will be able to discuss next steps in the negotiation process. This involves not only the cessation of hostilities itself, but also the terms of a future peace and guarantees for Ukraine.
Earlier, Zelenskyy emphasized that the Ukrainian side is ready for negotiations and wants them to be substantive and productive. Witkoff and Kushner are currently in Kyiv. Future meetings and their outcomes should reveal exactly which issues the American representatives plan to discuss with the Ukrainian leadership.
