Zelenskyy awarded Elon Musk the Order of Freedom
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree awarding American entrepreneur and engineer Elon Musk the Order of Freedom.
The corresponding decree, No. 835/2026, was published on August 26.
According to the document, Musk was honored “for outstanding personal contributions to the protection of human life and freedom, and the development of relations between the peoples of Ukraine and the United States of America.”
The decree refers to Elon Musk as an entrepreneur, engineer, and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla.
The Order of Freedom is one of Ukraine’s highest state honors. The decree awarding Musk the honor took effect on August 26, 2026.
This is evidenced by Presidential Decree No. 835/2026.
Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Lieutenant General Curtis Bazzard of the U.S. Armed Forces, commander of NATO’s Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training in Ukraine and the Ukraine Security Assistance Group.
Zelenskyy honored 472 defenders, 172 of them posthumously.
Zelenskyy announced the erection of a monument to Mazepa in Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine on nine Ukrainian defenders.
